We are happy to announce the opening of a second gallery location for Fine Art Photography this December in Lucerne, Switzerland.
Ten years ago we hosted our first photography exhibition in Munich and have since successfully developed a well established reputation for this new department. In the premises of our new showroom in Lucerne we will host selling exhibitions for 20th and 21st century photography in accordance with our programme in Munich.
Bernheimer already had an exhibition space in Lucerne, Switzerland, for a short period at the end of the 1920s. This year we are able to renew our ties with Lucerne; next year we look forward to be celebrating our gallery’s 150th anniversary in Munich, Germany.
In our exhibition “Augenblicke der Photographie – Moments in Photography” we are showing highlights of artists represented by our gallery.
Taking a photograph often takes no more than a few seconds, but the moment is captured by the photographer forever. In the last 200 years photography has developed as an important means of capturing historical moments in the form of fine art photography. Photographs such as the “Mainbocher Corset” by Horst P. Horst, comparable to similar nudes by Ingres or Man Ray, have earned their place in the history of art.
This and other iconic photographs will be presented at our inaugural exhibition in Lucerne.
We look forward to also welcoming you in Switzerland soon.
